So there has unquestionably been a lull in KCAC activity over the last several months. However, it is not done by any means, not with all the work and time already invested. At this point it is somewhat of a waiting game – waiting for economic conditions to stabilize so we can capitalize on more available grant funding. The board of directors is still working on securing some startup grant funding and it’s not easy – we need a large amount of cash to realize this dream.
However, inĀ the interim, we have decided to partner with Kalamazoo visual arts superteam The Exquisite Corpse Artist Collective and Gallery, with homebase in the Park Trades Center. We will be using our combined experiences to make their events more widely accessible to those who may not be familiar with the amazing things they do, and in return we can begin to get our name out in the community once again and have a small space occasionally available for use.
As many of you are aware, we have been promoting the Exquisite Corpse’s movie nights – most recently the film Dreams on 1/21 and just a couple weeks ago Manufactured Landscapes on 2/18. I would encourage everyone to become a fan of The Exquisite Corpse on Facebook to follow upcoming events which we will be partnering together.
As always, if you are looking for more information, please contact us at info@kzoocenter.org.
